- The trade organization reaffirms its commitment to sustainable forestry development during the seventh session held at the INFOR Valdivia facilities, highlighting the underutilization of the regional native forest.
PymeMad actively participated in the 7th session of the Promotion Table for the Forestry Industry of the region, an event attended by the Executive Director of CONAF, Rodrigo Illanes, who valued the actions of this public-private initiative and committed institutional support to advance the roadmap proposed by the local governance.
During the meeting, studies on the Tactical Forestry Planning Model for Native Forests, associativity for sustainable production, and technology transfer through specialized software were presented. The results revealed a significant gap: only 1% of the available native forest mass is being used for value addition and sustainable management.
Carlos Aravena Lobos, Vice President of the Table and representative of PymeMad Los Ríos, emphasized that these findings demonstrate the high potential to drive sustainable productive chains focused on micro, small, and medium-sized forestry enterprises, the development of local talent, and the strategic promotion of regional timber.
The Table, which has now held seven working sessions, has established itself as a key space for dialogue and coordination between public and private actors. Alongside PymeMad, participating institutions include the Seremis of Agriculture and Economy, the Regional Government, CORFO, CONAF, INFOR, as well as trade associations such as Aprobosque, Achbiom, Corma Native Forest, and the College of Forestry Engineers.
PymeMad reaffirms its commitment to dialogue, coordination, and joint action, understanding that forestry development with identity and sustainability requires collaborative foundations among all actors in the regional ecosystem.
